halloween costumes 2024

There are lots of fun options for costumes for Halloween 2024 with an explosive year of pop culture winding down. From the Olympics to the silver screen to sensational music artists, there are all sorts of quirky characters you can pretend to be for a night.

Here are some ideas for your Halloween costume this year.

Raygun

This infamous Olympic breakdancer notoriously stole the show with her memorable routine. Her outfit was just as memorable, making for a great costume.

Simply pair an emerald teal athletic set with a teal hat. Of course, you’ll be extra convincing if you bust a move yourself at the Halloween party.

Beetlejuice

With the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie coming out, this costume is both classic and topical, not to mention instantly recognizable.

Find a stripey suit, put white makeup on your face, and tease your hair, and there’ll be no doubt who you’re pretending to be.

Chappell Roan

With countless looks and moments from this pop diva this year alone, this is a versatile option for people who want lots of outfit ideas to choose from. Go as wrestler Chappell Roan, medieval Chappell Roan telling off paparazzi, or one of so many other options.

You can pick the look that best suits your resources, but go for Spandex and wild makeup for a wrestler look, or hit the thrift store for a Medieval-style dress or other looks.

Deadpool and Wolverine

This costume is great for a duo, capitalizing on the cool costumes from one of this year’s biggest hit action movies. It might be a little harder to pull off Hollywood-level superhero costumes, but it’s the connection between the characters that counts.

Jenna Ortega and Sabrina Carpenter

Another great option for a pair: try recreating the iconic looks from Sabrina Carpenter’s music video for Taste. They’re the perfect mix of glam and gore.

Jojo Siwa

Jojo Siwa has always served iconic looks, whether you’re a fan or not, but this year she really came out the gate with some memorable fits.

Try recreating her “reinvented” new “goth” look, or if you really want to go for it you can try her viral New York Fashion Week hairball look on for size.

Character from The Bear

This show is still going strong, and even though it’s not necessarily new anymore it’s still popular enough that if you wear a white shirt and blue apron and yell “behind!” people will likely get what you’re going for.

If you’re in Ontario, make a local reference by dressing up as celeb chef Matty Matheson’s character.

Sydney Sweeney in Immaculate

This one is pretty easy too. Sydney Sweeney made a splash in this horror film this year, and with a simple nun costume you can dress up in homage to the popular movie.

Furiosa

The makeup for this character is absolutely iconic, and it’s not everyday you get to dress up like you’re journeying across an apocalyptic landscape. Take the opportunity.

Longlegs

If you really want to freak people out, dress up as this Nicolas Cage character from one of the year’s freakiest films. While the character is definitely creepy, the costume actually isn’t that challenging: dress up in all white with white hair and white makeup, and you’re basically good to go.
