$4 movies coming to theatres across Ontario

There’s still time to see some of the summer’s biggest blockbusters and this weekend movie-goers can catch a flick for the reduced price of $4.

For those who still haven’t caught the Barbie movie, starring Mississauga’s Simu Liu, or Oppenheimer, this Sunday might be a good time.

The second annual National Cinema Day is this Sunday, Aug. 27, and the Movie Theatre Association of Canada and the Cinema Foundation celebrate the day with discounted admissions at participating theatres.

Last year, movies were $3, this year the price has gone up to, a still very discounted, $4 (plus applicable taxes).

“Following a record-breaking summer for movie-going, National Cinema Day is the perfect way to close out the season,” said Nuria Bronfman, executive director, Movie Theatre Association of Canada.

Theatres nationwide are excited to join forces to welcome Canadians into our theatres to experience a day of fun at the movies with their families and friends,”

The one-day event will be at more than 3,000 participating locations across North America.

Participating theatres in Canada include Cineplex, Cinémas Ciné Entreprise, Imagine Cinemas, Landmark Cinemas, Magic Lantern Theatres, and many local independent theatres across the provinces.
