5 great spas to visit near Toronto

A spa visit can be a wonderful way relax and unwind and there several options near Toronto.
Many Ontario spas feature outdoor pools in beautiful, natural surroundings. Visitors can choose to just relax in the hot pools, cold plunges and saunas or pay extra for a treatment such as a massage or facial.
While there are many day spas in Toronto, the spas on this list are places where people can sit for several hours and soak in the soothing sounds of nature.
A trip to these spas can be a friends outing, a solo chill day trip or for a fun date for a couple.
Here are five great spas in Ontario:
Located in the rolling hills of Northumberland County, Ste. Anne’s Spa is about an hour-and-a-half drive from Toronto. This is one of the oldest spas near Toronto. A day visit here typically starts in the morning and can include a treatment, lunch, afternoon tea, walking on the trails, and of course, relaxing in the pools.
The spa buildings were originally built in 1858 and constructed with locally quarried rose quartz and pink limestone. In 1939, additions were started and designed in the style of stone cottages from the Cotswold district of England. The home was named after Canada’s patron saint, Ste. Anne de Beaupré, by the Blaffer family who made the additions.

This spa, set in a forested area outside of Collingwood and Blue Mountain Resort, opened in December 2006.
This place offers traditional Scandinavian baths including outdoor hot pools and cold plunges. There are waterfalls, saunas, a steam room and relaxation areas. There is a forest-bathing area and the spa encourages guests to relax in the natural environment. Scientific studies find that forest bathing therapy enhances cardiovascular and metabolic systems function.
There are also a range of massage treatments available.

This is a fairly new spa located in Whitby, about an hour drive from Toronto. Opened in 2022, this company also has locations in Quebec and Winnipeg.
Located in north part of the town, next to Cullen Central Park, this place has outdoor cold, tempered, warm and hot, and thermal pools along with a salt flotation pool and saunas.
Like many spas, this place has a thermotherapy cycle, which is a 2,000-year-old Nordic tradition. The cycle consists of an alternation between hot and cold, followed by rest.

Located in Ontario’s Horseshoe Valley near Barrie, this spa is surrounded by trees, which guests can enjoy while in the outdoor pools.
Vettä offers the Finnish spa experience with the traditional hydrotherapy cycle of heat, cold and relaxation.
The spa also has saunas, a Finnish-inspired restaurant and an in-spa bistro.
Services include registered massages and other wellness treatments. Vettä Nordic Spa aims to help guests recharge, reconnect and feel rejuvenated, the spa said on its website.

Ontario’s first lakefront Nordic spa just opened this year. Wander the Spa, operated by Wander the Resort, is near the water’s edge on West Lake near the village of Bloomfield, midway between the Prince Edward County’s main centres of Picton and Wellington.
The 10,000 square foot spa boasts a hydrotherapy circuit, four pools, two saunas, a steam room, massage treatments, a beach, communal fires and an ‘exfoliation cabin,’ as well as an on-site restaurant.
