Toronto loves its Thai food, especially modern takes that put a twist on the traditional classics. Now, the city just got a new restaurant to satisfy those cravings.

Susu Siam mostly serves well-known Thai dishes but kicks things up a notch with cool presentation that can involve everything from dry ice to coconuts and banana leaves.

They’re serving more typical apps, salads and soups like spring rolls, chicken satay, tom yum soup and papaya salad. They also serve some items that are a little different, like crispy tom yum wontons and a corn and salted egg yolk salad.

Signature dishes include plamuek pad kaikem, a stir fried squid dish with salted egg yolk sauce, Chinese celery, onions and peppers, and also pu pad pong karee, which is crab meat stir fried in a fragrant and creamy yellow curry sauce with Thai spices and egg.

The rest of their menu consists of the usual range of rice, noodle, curry, grilled and stir fried dishes, such as pineapple fried rice, pad thai, khao soi, moo ping, panang curry and massaman curry.

It doesn’t stop there, though. For drinks, there’s Thai milk tea, longan juice, coconut pandan juice and blood orange chrysanthemum juice. Dessert options include pandan Thai toast, mango sticky rice and bua loy, a Thai treat with baked banana, glutinous rice balls, coconut milk and coconut meat.

Susu Siam is now open at 390 Silver Star Blvd.
