A butcher shop that’s been in business for over a decade has now announced they’re closing their doors.

Stock in Trade carried meat from small local farms that they butchered themselves by hand, and was also known for the ready-to-eat items they prepared like sandwiches. They also ran popular butcher’s supper clubs.

Unfortunately, meat lovers will no longer be able to shop there.

“Dear Friends and Customers, these are hard words to put out there because it makes it true, but after 10 incredible years serving the wonderful Danforth community, it is with a mix of gratitude and emotion that we announce the closure of our butcher shop. From providing quality meats to hosting unforgettable supper clubs, we’ve shared so many great moments—and none of it would have been possible without your unwavering support,” reads a message posted to Stock in Trade’s social media and website.

“Your trust, your conversations about food and basketball, and your loyalty have meant the world to us, and we will forever cherish our time here on the Danforth. It’s not goodbye forever, but simply a ‘see you later.’ We look forward to the new paths ahead, and we’ll always treasure the memories we’ve made together.”

The message also says they are going to “pause this chapter to focus on a new endeavour,” so it’s possible Stock in Trade will continue on in some form so people can continue to enjoy all their deliciousness in the future.

The shop’s post about their closure got over 200 likes on Instagram and received dozens of comments, with people calling it “one of our faves,” “always the best choice,” “my favourite butcher shop of all time” and “my absolute favourite place to get the best chicken and pies.”

While Stock in Trade didn’t post an official closing date along with their announcement, one person commented saying they were sad to see the store is already gone.
