A Toronto maker space specializing in sewing workshops has announced they have to let go of one of their physical locations.

The Workroom has locations in Parkdale and Sprucedale, but one of them will soon be closing down. They’ve hosted hundreds of workshops and many special events like markets and a community fabric swap.

“Even with everything we have accomplished, class registrations have been down significantly for a while now. Unfortunately, the numbers don’t add up to keep a physical space in Toronto anymore, even with all the changes we made in hopes to find a solution for this,” reads a post from The Workroom on social media.

“Please know that closing this chapter of The Workroom makes space for us to recover and move forward into the future.”

Moving forward, The Workroom will be closing its Parkdale location and keeping the Sprucedale location, as well as shifting focus to their online community where they offer virtual workshops and more events.

They’ll be offering workshops and events at the Parkdale location until it closes, and they’re planning on putting on retreats and a market through their Sprucedale location in the future.

“Doing our best to embrace these hard changes and always looking forward to new adventures together,” reads The Workroom’s post.

The Workroom’s studio in Parkdale will be closing at the end of October.
