In the wake of the closure of a couple Michelin-recommended restaurants in Toronto, another has announced that they are closing in a pivot to transform into something new.
Pompette is one of the best French restaurants in the city, a status recognized by the official Michelin Guide. In addition to serving some of the top French food in town at the restaurant, Pompette also runs an equally impressive cocktail bar and bakery, both under the same name and in the same Little Italy neighbourhood.
Recently, the restaurant made an announcement that things will soon be changing for them, beginning with the words “Farewell to Restaurant Pompette 1.0,” signed by Martine, Maxime & Jonathan. The post has nearly 1,000 likes.
“We invite you to join us for one final celebration of the flavours and experiences we have shared together over the past 4 years. Don’t miss this opportunity to savour your beloved meals one last time. As Restaurant Pompette as is currently is will cease,” reads the post.
“While this may feel like the end, it’s really just the beginning of something wonderful. We are excited to let you know that our closure as Restaurant Pompette is not the end of the story. We are setting off on a new journey and will be reopening with a completely refreshed experience.”
Other Michelin-recommended restaurants Frilu and Fonda Balam have also closed in Toronto.
As far as Pompette’s social media is concerned, it looks like the new concept will be called Vinoteca Pompette, a French Italian eatery that should be opening soon.
Pompette as we know it will be closing on Aug. 3.
