A snug cafe in Toronto that provided their neighbourhood with a cozy community hub has permanently closed down.

Queen’s End made small batch baked goods from scratch, sandwiches and soups, and of course served coffee.

An ever-changing chalkboard menu of comfort food was always full of lots of creative options like Reubens, Mediterranean wraps and breakfast sandwiches. They baked muffins in flavours like raspberry honey and dill pickle cheddar.

The cafe replaced a longstanding coffee shop and tattoo parlour called Jinks Art Factory that was operated by a pair of twin sisters for around a decade. The transformation of the cafe into Queen’s End was in a way a form of preservation of the space’s energy.

“After 3 years, I’m sad to say we will be closing our doors permanently,” reads a post on social media from Queen’s End.

“Thank you to all those who have supported our little business, it’s been a pleasure making and baking delicious things for you. All the love from your Queens End team.”

Locals have commented on the post saying how sad they are to hear the news and that they’ll miss the baking at Queen’s End, with one person calling it “a lovely oasis.”

The last day for Queen’s End was June 30.
