Toronto is full of burger joints, and lots of them have interesting names. However, one just opened up in town that might be the most attention-grabbing lately.

Crack Burger makes, in their words, “addictive smash burgers.” Fiends have lots of choice when it comes to where to get their smashed patties, but now there’s one more dealer out there.

The space and menu appear minimalist, but look like they’ll get the job done. Of course, the backbone of the menu is smash burgers, including their signature “Crack Burgers.”

All burgers are made using AAA smash patties and toasted brioche buns, and Crack Burgers are topped with American cheese, bacon and special “crack onions.” Jalapeno Crack Burgers include the addition of thick slices of jalapeno.

“Five years ago, in the backyard of a best friend’s house in Montreal, beers were cold, the music was loud, and the grill was working overtime. The air carried the intoxicating perfume of sizzling beef, charred edges, and melted cheese, and when that first burger hit my plate, it was game over,” reads an anecdote from the Crack Burger website written by the person behind it.

“I’m not talking about just any burger. This one was special – a sloppy, greasy kiss of crisped edges, juicy center, and unapologetically indulgent flavour that grabbed you by the taste buds and refused to let go. A perfect smash. It wasn’t just a bite; it was magic.”

Crack Burger also makes Oklahoma burgers and “American” burgers with ketchup, mustard and pickles. Sides are also kept simple with just fries and poutine on offer.

“Food has always been my thing – not just eating it, but chasing it, learning its stories, and understanding its power & travelling all over the world to taste local specialties. Food brings people together, starts conversations, makes memories. This burger? It did all that in one bite. It was a connection, a reminder of why I fell in love with food in the first place,” the site reads.

“Each bite is a nod to nostalgia – those backyard BBQs, stolen moments with friends, and the unmistakable thrill of eating something so good, it’s addictive. This isn’t fast food. This isn’t fancy food. This is food that grabs you by the collar and makes you pay attention. Crack Burger is my love letter to Toronto, to flavour, and to everyone who’s ever craved something real.”

Crack Burger is now open at 147 Baldwin St.
