A new steakhouse is opening soon the space where a popular Peruvian restaurant once stood.
The space that once housed Mira will soon become home to Animl, a “steakhouse and cocktail den.”
A website and Instagram page are both bare, with the Instagram bio for Animl simply reading “elegantly untamed.”
Mira was known for Peruvian cuisine like anticuchos (small skewers) and their Insta-worthy chocolate bomb that diners would dramatically smash open themselves. The restaurant was in operation at least up until spring of this year.
Design for new restaurant Animl is by Nivek Remas, and is full of luxurious textures and patterns, dark hues and dramatic lighting, plus statement touches like a giant glittering disco bull (yes, bull) hanging over the dining room.
Animl is being operated by powerhouse entertainment group INK, which also runs other heavyweight Toronto restaurants such as Byblos, Patria, Bisha, Akira Back, Amal, Cabana Pool Bar, Rebel, Kost, Pink Sky and Sofia. They’re also involved in huge local music festival Veld.
Animl at 420 Wellington St. W. should be opening on Nov. 19.
