There are lots of places to find artisanal goods in Toronto, but we could always use more. Fortunately, Savile Studio and Market just opened its doors, and it’s so much more than just a place for artisans to sell their wares.

At Savile, not only will you find a curated selection of ever-changing designs and creations by over 40 local, national, and international creators, but also a robust program of workshops and events. The design of the space draws inspiration from the owner’s family cottage.

Some of what you can browse at the store includes designer and vintage clothing, jewellery, contemporary art and sculpture, ceramics, hand-blow glass and statement pieces.

Many of their programs are beginner-friendly, and they currently offer workshops in charcoal portraits, summer bouquet watercolour painting, an immersive watercolour program for adults, watercolour with India ink and live model drawing, and they also have wine and paint nights as well as a mixed media after school program. The price range varies for workshops, but you can check out all the details and sign up online.

“There’s something about browsing in person rather than online that retailers just can’t replicate,” says owner Anita Mursic in a press release.

“Browsing is a big part of what the store offers because it creates the opportunity for serendipity. Each time you come to Savile you can find something special, a hidden gem that you hadn’t thought of buying but that we hope becomes something you come to treasure or that you know is the perfect gift for the person you had in mind.”

Savile Studio and Market is now open at 173 Roncesvalles Ave.
