Sick of winter in Toronto? A new bar has just popped up in town that’s ready to rid you of the winter blahs.

Beach Mode bills itself as “Toronto’s only indoor beach club pop-up.”

It’s the latest creation of Offworld Bar, which itself was created by the same team behind Toronto’s nerd bar Stormcrow Manor. Offworld Bar is normally a totally sci-fi space-themed restaurant, but they’ve made other transformations before, previously becoming a Halloween-themed bar during the fall season.

Now that fall is over and winter is unfortunately definitely here, we’re all tired of it all ready and craving a little sun during these short, dark days. Thankfully, you can head to Beach Mode for a little taste of sunshine after the sun has already set before 6 p.m.

Beach Mode transforms Offworld into a tropical paradise with beachy decor, pool floaties and beach balls everywhere, imagery of palms and sunsets, and even indoor “cabanas.”

Of course, they also have a menu of food and drink to match. Beachy bites include fish and chips, a shrimp burger, tofu burger, a couple pastas and a coconut pineapple cake.

As for kitschy cocktails, there’s the Kingston Calling (rum and Ting), the Fish Tank’d that looks like a real fishbowl, the Kakamora that comes served in a whole coconut, or the shareable Rum Runner’s Bounty for two that comes sealed in a bottle served in a “dead man’s chest” surrounded by gold coins. Of course, you can also get buckets of Corona and bottles of bubbly for the full resort feel.

There are also all kinds of events coming up at Beach Mode, like their Cinema by the Shore free movie screening series that takes place Sundays at 6:30 p.m. where they’re giving out free popcorn and showing movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Goonies.

Beach Mode is now popping up at Offworld Bar at 739 Queen St. W. until the end of March.
