A super popular udon bar is opening their first ever downtown Toronto location.

Mikaku Udon Bar was opened in 2022 in Markham by the same people behind North York spot Mikaku Izakaya.

The concept focuses, of course, on udon noodle dishes, with options like chicken curry udon, spicy cream udon and seafood udon. They also serve a menu of sides like karaage and takoyaki.

Recently, Mikaku Udon Bar announced in a social media post that they’d soon be opening their first ever location in downtown Toronto, and people commented congratulating them on the big step.

Mikaku Udon Bar is located at 360 Hwy. 7 E. in Markham, and Mikaku Izakaya is located at 6180 Yonge St. in North York.

The new Mikaku Udon Bar will be located right downtown in Toronto at 229 Carlton St. The restaurant was originally intended to open on Sept. 1, but there have been unforeseen delays.

“We have some updates regarding our grand opening. Due to unforeseen delays in our interior renovations, our grand opening at our brand new location 229 Carlton St, Toronto has been rescheduled,” reads a social media post from Mikaku Udon Bar.

“We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and continued support. Rest assured, the wait will be worth it! We’re working hard to create an even better dining experience in a delightful atmosphere that we can’t wait for you to see.”

The post also says to stay tuned for more updates. The second location for Mikaku Udon Bar should be opening on Sept. 10.
