A unique record shop in Toronto has just announced that they’ll be closing down their operations.

Big Shiny is an independent record shop where you can always find some very special vinyl. Aside from selling records out of their store, they also sell them online, participate in pop-ups, and offer delivery. They also sell record accessories, magazines, books and merch.

The record shop just announced they would soon be closing this summer, with the owner saying their family is heading out of the country.

“After 4.5 years of slinging records in Corso Italia and around the world, BIG SHINY is going to be shutting down operations,” reads a post from Big Shiny on social media.

“A new adventure awaits our family overseas in the UK and now is the time to pursue it. It is not an easy decision to make and I want to express my deepest gratitude to those who supported the vision of our shop. I will cherish the connections I have made, and I will treasure the simple joy of sharing music with you all. Thank you, and keep an eye on @bigshinyrecords for any BIG SHINY developments or rebirths. With love and passion, John.”

There are lots of comments on the post, including many from local businesses and music lovers, thanking them for all the music and saying Big Shiny will be missed, but wishing the owners the best.

Big Shiny is shutting down operations on July 13.
