A restaurant that offers French-infused Canadian cuisine has announced they will soon be closing their doors to make way for a brand new concept.

Bon Temps in Hamilton serves sophisticated dishes like oysters, duck liver parfait, steak frites, prime rib dinners and lobster rolls. They’ve recently let people know that soon, they’re going to be taking things down a notch and turning the restaurant into something a little more casual.

“At this time we’d like to share with you that we will be closing the doors. There are many reasons behind this decision, but the most important one is that I would like to simplify life and start a new chapter which puts my family and me first. In the upcoming weeks we will be shutting the doors to Bon Temps but opening the doors to a new concept that makes more sense for us: we will be reopening as a casual bar, to come grab some quality cocktails, a cold beer, and a light snack. Watch the game, play a game, or debate the merits of using coasters for beverages,” reads a social media post from Bon Temps.

“Please come and pop in over the next two weeks and say farewell to your friendly neighbourhood little French bistro. Thank you for your friendship and patronage, and we will catch you on the flippity flop.”

Anyone who has gift cards for Bon Temps will not be able to get a refund, but the gift cards will be honoured at the new concept.

The official closing date for Bon Temps will be Aug. 11.
