A little independent cafe in Toronto has just announced they’ll soon be closing up shop for good.
Koffee Kween in Parkdale is the coffee shop component of a space shared with several quirky businesses. The same storefront that houses Koffee Kween is also home to a clothing business and a hobby/gaming store called Nerdgasm. Now, it looks like the number of businesses in the space may be down to two.
“My Brew-tiful Kweens, I’ve adored every moment and appreciated meeting all my fabulous customers from parkdalians to puppuccinos, it’s been fantastic serving you all the best Koffee possible…” reads a post on Koffee Kween’s Instagram.
“It’s time to spill the beans: Koffee Kween is closing up shop! I’ve reached a point where the shift in focus needs to move on.”
Luckily, the same owner is behind the clothing concept at the same storefront, Revamped Clothing Toronto. They do repairs and alterations to salvage clothing, specializing in streetwear and custom projects.
“My passion lies in saving textile waste and so we’re (me) staying put in the same spot, 1652 Queen West, just making a few improvements on my Revamped space…and moving out of the Koffee one!” the Instagram post continues. “So it’s not farewell, it’s more like ‘sew ya later’!”
The post continues on to invite people to come by for a last few coffees and to help clear out cafe inventory before Koffee Kween closes.
It concludes, “May I also take a moment to say…please support small businesses in your neighbourhood and wherever you can! It’s really important!”
Koffee Kween is closing at the end of the month.
