A Valentine’s-themed pop-up bar that claims to be Toronto’s first is opening at a restaurant that’s already pretty romantic.
Bar Besos is popping up this month at Bar Mordecai, which is known for its dreamy Wes-Anderson-inspired vibe that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day.
You can find Bar Besos downstairs in the restaurant’s Green Room and private party rooms, where the entire area is decorated with kitschy Valentine’s decor, and drinks based on aphrodisiacs are being served.

Cocktails served in fun glassware include ingredients that are supposed to be aphrodisiacs like cinnamon, ginseng, pomegranate, cacao, saffron and honey.
The design of the space provides lots of photo opportunities, and takes inspiration from childhood Valentine’s Day cards and Las Vegas chapels.

The best part is, Bar Mordecai is giving two of their signature karaoke rooms a love-themed makeover to fit in with the rest of Bar Besos so you can have a Valentine’s-themed karaoke session.
The only thing better than that is that no tickets or reservations are required for the whole experience.

“We love the over-the-top nature of Valentine’s Day, so bringing that energy to life in our space was a challenge we were excited to take on,” says Bar Mordecai co-owner Christina Veira.
“We wanted to take all of the best elements of Valentines – exuberance, kitsch, even some corniness – and pair them with cocktails that are romantic and elegant. We think the contrast will give our guests a special experience whether they’re joining us with their friends or someone extra special.”
Bar Besos is open from Feb. 5 to 20 at Bar Mordecai on Dundas West.
