A spot that was very sad for Toronto’s Jamaican patty lovers to lose a little while back has announced they’re making a triumphant return.

Randy’s Patties sent shockwaves through the patty appreciation community with their most recent post on social media, the first for the restaurant in about three years. The restaurant that’s been around since 1979 announced in the post that they’ll be returning after closing a few years ago.

“Icons never die. Sometimes they just take a break,” reads the post. “RANDY’S IS RETURNING TO LITTLE JAMAICA! Stay tuned.”

When the store originally closed a few years back, there were lineups around the block of hungry people looking to get their last fix. Drake even offered to buy the legendary shop when he heard it was closing.

The post has over 12,000 likes and nearly 1,000 comments, with many commenters very enthusiastic about the return. One person said the post spread through their socials like wildfire, and another person wondered if Drake had a hand in the comeback.

Randy’s was previously located at 1569 Eglinton Ave. W. and looks to be reopening there. Signs in the window say the store will be reopening soon.
