Heavy rain is forecast for Wednesday in Toronto and across the GTA.
Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday, according to a special weather statement from Environment and Climate Change Canada.
The rain is expected to start Wednesday afternoon in Toronto and continue through to early Thursday morning.
Areas in southwestern Ontario will be hit with the rain first on Wednesday morning before the system moves over the Golden Horseshoe Wednesday afternoon.
With thunderstorms expected, rainfall amounts may exceed 50 mm over some areas, particularly over southwestern Ontario, Environment Canada said.
Rain will end from west to east Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
Rainfall warnings may be required for some areas as the event draws nearer. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
The temperatures will reach a high of 3 C in the morning and increase to 7 C in the afternoon.
Once this system passes, higher temperatures, up to 18 C, are expected on Thursday.
