Artists needed to brighten up traffic boxes in Oakville

The Town of Oakville wants to brighten up some traffic signal cabinets around the community and is looking for help from local artists.
As part of this year’s Connextions exhibitions, artists are invited to create wraps that will appear at several intersections across Oakville and will be featured at this year’s Culture Days Festival in September and October.
Artists living in Oakville and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area are encouraged to submit their proposals online before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. Those living in Oakville and who can share their connection to Oakville will be given priority.
The artwork itself can be created in any medium but, if selected, must be provided as high-resolution digital files suitable for large-format printing. The final artwork will be a digital file printed onto vinyl media that will wrap around a traffic signal cabinet. The selected proposals will be visually engaging and reflect the local community.
Artists will be selected in April and will receive $800 for each work selected. Fabrication and installation costs are covered by the town and are not included in this proposal.
Final designs are due June 1, with printing and installation occurring during the summer ahead of Culture Days.
For more details about the submission process, visit the Town’s call for submissions webpage.
Connextions has become an annual temporary public art installation across Oakville that features local emerging and professional artists with strong ties to Oakville.
