CLOSURE: Barbecue restaurant closing down after over 10 years of business in Toronto

A Toronto barbecue restaurant has announced they’re shutting down after over 12 years of operation due to issues with their landlord.
Stack has been serving up Southern-style barbecue along with burgers and beer since 2012. The family-run restaurant focuses on Texas barbecue, and prides themselves on their house-made rubs and sauces.
“Despite our best efforts, we weren’t able to reach an agreement that met the needs of both our landlord and our own vision for the future,” reads a social media post from Stack announcing their closure in Toronto.

The post shouts out nearby business Friendly Butcher for making Stack feel welcome in the neighbourhood when they first opened up, and highlights memories of celebrity visits, the restaurant functioning as an event venue and even polling station, and being supported by the community throughout lockdowns. The post has dozens of comments saying this is sad news and a loss for the community, and that Stack will be missed in Toronto.
Stack has two locations, but the one that’s closing is their only spot in Toronto. However, they’re hoping not to be gone from the city for long.
“We’re actively searching for a new location in Toronto that feels just as right for our concept,” reads Stack’s post.
Stack’s location at Oakville Place will be remaining open. The last day for Stack in Toronto at Yonge and Lawrence will be Oct. 23.
