While most people might think of thinly sliced cucumber sandwiches and delicate macarons when they think of high tea, there are many ways to make a mean brunch-y meal and some restaurants aren’t afraid to offer their own take on the age-old British tradition.
Earlier this week, Kasa Moto, the higher-end Japanese restaurant that’s been serving everything from much-talked-about sashimi and wagyu-based entrees out of its contemporary Yorkville location since its opening a little less than 10 years ago, announced it’s launching a new high tea option.
“Our Japanese High Tea is a brand new program we launched this week, featuring a tower of Japanese food alongside a teapot of Sake Sangria,” the operators said.
The tea, which costs $95 for two people and is available from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., offers a number of savoury and sweet items.
Savoury items include inari sushi, a wagyu slider with caramelized onion, bitter greens and wasabi aioli, tuna crispy rice with unagi sauce, serrano and a sesame chili crunch, signature maki and nigiri and a fruit mini tart with fresh fruit, yuzu pastry cream and raspberry powder).
The tea also comes with the aforementioned sake sangria, which is made with sho chiku bae sake, white rum, Cointreau, lychee juice, grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime.
Reservations for the new high tea are now open.
