A location of a popular local brunch chain was just forced to shut down due to the landlord deciding he wanted to put his own business into the space.

Boom Breakfast has operated several locations across Toronto for many years now, and one that’s been open for nearly two decades was just forced to close.

“As you already know, unfortunately, our landlord has decided to take a different direction than us,” reads the caption to a social media post about the closing. “We want to thank once again our incredible community for all the support and memories. Just a pause before the next chapter.”

The post says that the “landlord has decided not to fulfill the eight years remaining on our leases in favour of putting in his own business.” It continues to say that Boom plans to return to the area soon.

People have commented on social media posts about the closure saying Boom was their favourite and one of the best restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Boom still has other locations at 808 College St. and 2840 Dundas St. W. The last day for Boom Breakfast on St. Clair West was Aug. 18.
