Canada’s Wonderland is set to become home to the longest, tallest and fastest launch coaster in the country this summer, and though snow is still falling, construction is already underway.

AlpenFury is a new launch coaster that’s supposed to blast 50 feet out of Wonder Mountain and feature nine inversions, which is the most in the world for a launch coaster. It’ll travel at a breakneck 115 kilometers per hour.

The coaster will also have three unique components sure to thrill riders. The Fire Serpent Roll involves twists, inversions, weightlessness, and near-miss moments, The Skyflyer Loop ascends in a helix to a zero-G stall then descends in an inverted roll, and The Ice Winder Roll twists and untwists in two inversions.

Canada’s Wonderland has been posting photos and updates to social media showing the progress of the coaster’s construction. The first support columns have now been installed.

The theme park also recently posted a countdown of their most popular coasters of 2024.

There’s a whole mythology behind AlpenFury that brings the elements of fire and ice together.

“One legend holds that at the mountain’s core, fire and ice come together in their most raw, elemental states to create a powerful natural force that is both terrifying and awe-inspiring. The story has become so engrained in local culture that the Alpen village now celebrates this mythical union with its own fire and ice festival every year,” reads AlpenFury’s story online.

“As a visitor, you’re fortunate to find yourself in the village during the height of the festival. It’s a jubilant and colourful celebration. Those brave enough are invited to visit the sled haus where a sleek, modern sled awaits, outfitted for a journey through the very heart of Wonder Mountain and beyond.”

AlpenFury will open at Canada’s Wonderland in 2025.
