The former Can-View Drive-in in Thorold will reopen Thursday (April 6) under new ownership with a brand new name – the Skyway Drive-In Niagara.
The 84-acre property at 1956 Highway 20 on the Thorold-Pelham border was available on the open market for $10.8 million as recently as February 2022 before Premier Theatre bought it out late last year.
Premier Theatre also operates five other drive-ins in Oakville, Hamilton, Barrie, Newmarket and London.
The new ownership tried a special night for Halloween 2022 and response was strong enough that they decided to open the drive-in theatre back up after COVID-19 restrictions basically shut down the Can-View.
Showing on Thursday at the four-screen drive-in will be showings of Super Mario Bros, John Wick: Chapter 4, Shazam: The Fury Of The Gods, Dungeons And Dragons, Plane and more.
According to the Skyway Drive-In Niagara Facebook page, where they’re still called Can-View Drive-In (so they don’t lose their 29,000 followers) Friday and Saturday night this week will see triple-bills on each of the four screens. Check the link for all the information.
Renovations have been made to the concession area and they are opening an arcade room as well. As the weather improves, they also plan on installing a outdoor patio for families where they will also have live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
