A bar and snack counter in Toronto that also functioned as a bottle shop has suddenly shut down.
Bicyclette was a quiet little shop that sold wine and served food, and also did small tastings and events. In addition to selling wine, beer and cider, they also offered bread, sandwiches, salads, tinned fish, soups and takeaway meals.
The owner recently took to social media to abruptly announce the closure of Bicyclette with a hand signed note.

“A combination of leasehold issues and becoming a grandfather led me to this decision, I am now ready to spend time with my family here and in France,” reads the note.
“As you know, I am a pet owner and I frequent Bickford Park often, so we might cross paths.”
Bicyclette was in business for five years, and during that time was a bright spot in the Harbord Village community. The farewell note also shouts out the suppliers that always provided Bicyclette with new wines, and the people that came in to try all the fun things the business had to offer.
The Instagram post has over 150 likes and around 30 comments on Instagram from people who were sorry to see Bicyclette go. Many comments congratulated the owner on making time to spend with family, and at the same time many also expressed how sad the news of the closure was and how much the business will be missed.
The last day for Bicyclette was March 22.
