One of Toronto’s top pizza restaurants is going to be shutting down one of their two locations.
Mattachioni is known for their Neapolitan-style pizza as well as house-made products like sourdough and pepper stuff
They have one location in the west on Dupont and another in the east end of town, and sadly for one side of the city their location of Mattachioni will be no more.
The neighbourhood was given a heads up about the closure in a local group on Facebook.

“Hi everyone. With great sadness I am letting you all know that Mattachioni will be closing our east end location,” reads a post from Lilli-Anne Donovan. “As a community please come out to support us.”
The post has 135 reactions and almost 50 comments saying how sad it is to hear the news and what a loss this is for the neighbourhood. People commented saying they will especially miss Mattachioni’s sourdough, focaccia, pizza dough and olive oil cakes in the area.
“I’m sorry to hear this. I frequently purchased the sourdough and loved it. Was business just too slow?” someone asked in the comments. Someone else responded, positing, “Big space and the end of a lease means decisions gotta happen.”
The restaurant later made an official announcement on their social media letting everyone know that the east end location of Mattachioni is closing.
The last day for Mattachioni at 1501 Gerrard St. E. will be Jan. 26.
