An apothecary store in Hamilton has announced they’ll soon be closing the doors of their physical location, saying “tariffs and economic uncertainty have been the tipping point.”
Pure Home Couture sells all kinds of apothecary goods like candles, bath bombs, lip balm, deodorant, soap and perfume, and also makes their own products. Their 3,000-square-foot brick and mortar space on Locke Street in Hamilton is inspired by a Parisian loft with chandeliers and French armoires.
Now, Pure Home Couture is saying goodbye to their physical shop.
“In true Canadian fashion, we will begin by saying ‘sorry’ but we do have some difficult news to share. April will mark our 23rd year of business on Locke Street and what a wonderful time we have had,” reads the caption of an announcement on social media.
“We have loved every moment of your patronage but have made the difficult decision to close the doors of our brick and mortar shop. We have felt the shift in consumer behaviour for a long while now, the new tariffs and economic uncertainty have been the tipping point for us.”

The announcement post has over 300 likes on Instagram and nearly 100 comments.
While it’s sad to see the store go, there are some silver linings. The physical shop is saying farewell with a huge closing clearance sale with deals up to 50 per cent off.
Also, all is not lost for fans of Pure Home Couture as the business will continue as a purely online entity.
“We will be shifting our focus to online only and wholesale as we continue to build our brand. We strive to provide the best online shopping experience and you will still be able to get all your favourite products,” reads their post.

Pure Home Couture still has their space through April and has not made any firm decisions on when exactly they will be closing.
