A tiny bakery with a big reputation for its cupcakes has announced it will be closing down in Toronto.

Sticky Bakery is, in a way, a continuation of the brand Prairie Girl Bakery, which used to have bakeries all over Toronto. Over time, those bakeries all closed down, but later on the company and its beloved cupcakes were reincarnated under the name Sticky Bakery.

The business operates out of a micro-storefront on St. Clair West, though for a period the business was online only. At the new space, they gained a reputation for their sticky buns as well as their cupcakes.

“Earlier this year, an exciting career opportunity for Andrew came his way – in Australia! We have decided to pursue this adventure and therefore we will be closing Sticky Bakery,” reads a post on social media from Sticky Bakery. “While we are excited about the new chapter, we are really sad to close this business.”

Up until the last day, Sticky will still be baking all their usual products and will operate on their usual hours. The bakery’s physical assets and lease are currently for sale online, so it’s uncertain what will take over the space at this time.

The last day for Sticky Bakery will be May 18.
