A long-standing Toronto steak house has closed its doors, but patrons can expect it to re-open in the future with a brand new look.
Today, The Keg Steakhouse + Bar announced its busy 927 Dixon Rd. location, which is close to Pearson International Airport, shuttered its doors on Jan. 27 in preparation for “significant renovations.”
According to a news release, the restaurant will feature a “fresh, modern design” once it reopens, with a refreshed dining room, bar and lounge and patio. Operators also say the restaurant will boast “improved functionality to better serve guests.”
The brand says the Dixon Road location is one of its busiest, having served millions of diners since opening its doors over 40 years ago in 1983.
“This location has been a staple within our community for decades and we are excited to both modernize and enhance the overall dining experience for our valued guests and team members (“Keggers”),” said Nick Dean, president of The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, in a statement.
“We appreciate the many Keggers that have built their careers at this location and the many guests that visited us over the years. We look forward to opening the doors to our new restaurant once construction is completed.”
On the restaurant’s website, it says local diners can visit nearby Keg locations at Square One in Mississauga and Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke.
The Keg has an over 50-year history in Canada. Founder George Tidball opened the first restaurant under the name Keg n’ Cleaver in North Vancouver in 1971.
The restaurant is known for its steaks, seafood and other signature dishes.
An official re-opening date has not yet been announced.
