A Toronto bar that was arguably one of the first in the city to specialize in offering a wide selection of cider has announced they’ll soon be closing their doors.

Her Father’s Cider was known for, of course, serving lots of great cider including local options, as well as elevated comfort food like nachos, pasta and steak.

“It is with a heavy heart and deep gratitude that we share this news: Her Father’s Cider Bar + Kitchen is closing,” the restaurant and bar posted to social media.

“Since we first opened in 2016, we’ve had the privilege of sharing countless meals, drinks, and memories with all of you—our wonderful staff, and our incredible community from Harbord Village and beyond. Your support, laughter, and love have made these years truly unforgettable.”

There are lots of comments on the post from people who are sorry to see Her Father’s Cider go, including local cider fans and producers. People have also commented on the post praising their gluten-free options.

“Thank you for all the great years, and thank you for everything you did to elevate the cider game in Ontario,” commented West Avenue Cider.

“Such sad news, one of my favourite spots, thanks for all you brought to the Toronto food and cider scene over the last years, especially for us celiacs,” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “The wall of cider always made the heart flutter and the staff was always so welcoming and knowledgeable. Thank you for the past years.”

“There are is no other place in Toronto that offers cider flights, allowing one to try from a variety of different makers,” another person commented. “You will be greatly missed.”

Toronto once had multiple destinations where cider lovers could go to wet their whistle like Brickworks Ciderhouse and a bar on Roncesvalles simply called Cider House, but they’ve been shutting down one by one.

The last day for Her Father’s Cider will be Jan. 19.
