A clothing store in Toronto is closing its doors with a final sale and an emotional goodbye message posted to social media.
Cassandra Moy takes up residence in an artsy corner space in the Junction and has been in business for over 16 years. Specializing in slow fashion, the store sells apparel as well as accessories like bags and wallets.
“I’ve been sad about it enough for all of us, but now I’m actually feeling quite excited, relieved, and happy to move on. It hasn’t been easy to let go of something I’ve been building for 16+ years, but I’ve come to realize that my dreams have changed, and my heart just isn’t in it anymore. I always had a plan for myself after this, and it’s time for me to go try and execute that plan – details of which may be revealed to you all at a later time,” reads a note on social media signed “Love CM.”
“As someone who taught themselves how to sew, do leatherwork, and design, I am beyond grateful for all of the incredible opportunities and wonderful people this insane career has brought my way. The trust you have all put into me for such special occasions and events in your lives is something I’ll carry with me always. So come and say bye (to the space, not me necessarily), see the space one final time in all its glory, and help me give a lovely send off to this leg of my life.”
The post has nearly 100 likes and a couple dozen comments on Instagram.
At the sale, you can browse through sewing and leatherworking equipment, original designs, preloved vintage items, florals, decor, furniture and posters.
The shop and business closing sale will take place Jan. 11 and 12 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
