A diner that took up residence in Hamilton’s oldest working restaurant is now saying goodbye after seven years of operation.

Breezy Corners, also known as Breezy’s, is a family restaurant and diner serving comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner from pancakes to fish n’ chips.

The restaurant recently posted to Facebook informing customers that unfortunately, they won’t be around for much longer.

“It is a sad news day for us here at Breezy’s Hamilton. We have decided to close up our little diner instead of move to a new location. It’s time for us to retire,” reads the post, signed by owners Claudia and Luke Draper.

“This building that was once held the Bright Spot and has been Breezy’s Hamilton for the past 7 years and is the oldest working restaurant in Hamilton. We have met so many wonderful people…staff and customers. Our sister location in Freelton is still open and now in the capable hand of Luke’s daughter. I’m sure you will see us there often. Until then, it’s business as usual.
Make sure if you see us in the restaurant that you come and say hello. We love to hear your stories.”

Comments on the post have poured in wishing the owners the best of luck with their next chapter and bidding the diner farewell, with many commenters saying the closure is sad news.

The last day for Breezy’s in Hamilton will be Nov. 3.
