A diner known for its eighties theme has just shut down in Hamilton.
There are multiple locations of Electric Diner in Hamilton, but now the one in Hess Village is no more.
The diners are known for their eighties theming that extends to everything from the interior decoration with lots of neon to the menu, which is equally colourful.
Electric Diner took to social media to announce the closure of their Hess location.
“We’ve been blessed to be a part of Hess Village for over five years as Electric Diner and almost 10 years as business owners. The decision was not easy–we built a place that grew quickly due to the amazing Hamilton community, and because of this growth we opened a larger location to house the demand. Unfortunately both places were too close in proximity and the larger space better suits our, and our customers needs,” reads a post from the business signed by Erika & Jamie.
“We are the biggest Hess village fans and will support the businesses in the area forever. We plan to expand the business into brand new markets using our flagship Lister Block location as our business model. We want to thank everyone who sat in our Holiday tent during COVID in the snow, saved our heaters, ordered take out and got us through the worst time of our career as restaurateurs. You supported us through thick and thin and made Electric Diner what it is today–you are our true champions and we will be forever grateful. We also want to thank all the staff that have come and gone and who are still here.”

A new owner with a new business concept will be taking up residence in the old Electric Diner space, and the James Street North location of Electric Diner will be staying open.
There’s still time to say goodbye to the George Street location in Hess, including a farewell party taking place on Jan. 24.
The last day for Electric Diner’s location at 96 George St. will be Jan. 26.
