A restaurant that’s been operating for years in Toronto in one form or another and served a popular brunch has announced they’ll be closing.
Farmhouse Tavern is a family-run farm-to-table restaurant that’s taken up residence at a notable corner in the Junction Triangle for years. They served comfort food like sandwiches, pasta and steak.
“We have made the decision to close our doors. Farmhouse Tavern has been a junction staple for many years so the decision was not taken lightly,” reads a post from the restaurant on social media.
“Unfortunately times have changed and the neighborhood has spoken.”
The post has nearly 500 likes and dozens of comments on Instagram from other local businesses and regulars who say they’re sad to see the neighborhood restaurant close.
“We have been coming for years and years to all the different iterations of Farmhouse,” reads one Instagram comment. “We’ve been in the neighborhood since our early thirties and now are in our mid forties.”
However, it appears that the area may not be necessarily losing a local community spot entirely, as the social media post concludes, “A new concept is in the works, we can’t wait to see you again soon.”
The last service for Farmhouse Tavern will be brunch on Nov. 3.
