A massive three-floored bar with a rooftop patio is permanently closing its doors after 10 years in downtown Toronto.
Bar Hop, a bar and restaurant located at 137 Peter St (just off Queen and Spadina) is hosting a final last call on Jan. 18 to send the location off in style.
The announcement came yesterday via an Instagram post, where ownership cited difficulties many hospitality locations have been maneuvering for several years, such as the ongoing cost of living in Toronto and the sluggish return to pre-pandemic nightlife.
“We have been hopeful to see things return to the good ole’ days. The last four years have been difficult with a slow recovery in the downtown area, increased costs and the feeling by most people that there is a lot less to go around,” read the post from Bar Hop’s administrative team.

As a result, the Peter St location has launched customer appreciation specials this week until its final night this upcoming Saturday to celebrate the location’s legacy.
“We want to thank all of our customers, staff and business partners that have supported this location over the past 10 years,” read the Instagram post.
According to ownership, the second Bar Hop location on King St will remain in operation.
Concerning the send-off for the Peter St location — more details are set to be revealed over the coming days.
