A busy restaurant known for its Mediterranean fare has closed its doors for good.
CrowdedHouse, a Leslieville resto that served up dips paired with freshly baked laffa, shawarma, falafel, fried eggplant, bourekas, kebabs, seabass, meat skewers, sandwiches and more, recently announced that it has shuttered its doors.
“After seven incredible years, it’s with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Crowdedhouse,” operators wrote on the restaurant’s official Facebook page on Oct. 31.
“This decision wasn’t easy, but as we look back, we are filled with gratitude for the countless memories we’ve shared with you.”
Calling customers of the almost decade-old restaurant family, operators praised diners for coming to the eatery to mark bigger milestones and just enjoy a quiet meal in front of the space’s open kitchen.
“From the celebrations to the quiet moments, you’ve made Crowdedhouse a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness. We are deeply thankful for your support, your smiles, and the many meals we’ve had the privilege to serve,” operators wrote.
“Though our doors may close, the spirit of Crowdedhouse lives on in the friendships and connections made within these walls. We hope the experiences you’ve had with us continue to bring you joy.”
Although not much information is available at this time, new signage on CrowdedHouse’s Queen Street East’s facade shows that a new concept, Nola Eatery and Bar, is slated to open.
While Nola does not appear to have a fully functioning website or any social media just yet, information on Google suggests it’ll open its doors on Monday, Nov. 11.
