Downtown Burlington has become a little artsier with the unveiling of a new mural that aims to celebrate the vibrancy of the downtown core.
Our #DTBurlon core just became even more colourful thanks to a new mural celebrating the vibrancy and resilience of the downtown community by artist Chris Perez.

The mural unveiled this past Monday (September 20), can be seen on the side of 404 John St., near Lakeshore. The art is the work of Canadian artist Chris Perez, who made the piece with assistance from Burlington’s Aiden Kenny.
The mural was made with funding from STEPS Public Art’s I HeArt Main Street Program, as well as local sponsors. According to the Burlington Downtown website, the I HeArt Main street program works with BIAs across Ontario to celebrate local culture and support the recovery of hard-hit “main streets” through public art initiatives and paid artist opportunities.Â
The website says the mural–which it describes as a “colourful homage to the city’s downtown business area”–took a week to complete.
“The team has proudly developed innovative properties that inspire and contribute to the Burlington community,” said Robert Molinaro, vice president of the Molinaro Group.
“That’s why we didn’t hesitate to offer the exterior of one of our properties for this exciting project. We hope the new mural brings joy and inspiration for all who live, work and visit downtown Burlington.”Â
Burlington downtown is currently running a mural photo contest that encourages residents to come and admire the art, take a photo of it, and post to social media tagging @dtburlingtonon or emailing [email protected].
The contest runs until Nov. 30.
