A new arts and culture hub in Niagara Falls will soon host a popular annual event.
Recently, the city announced that the 13th Annual Night of Art event will be held at the Niagara Falls Exchange (5943 Sylvia Place). The event, which has traditionally taken place in the Niagara Falls History Museum, was supposed to take over the Exchange last fall, but construction delays made it impossible.
Now that the venue is officially up and running, fans of the annual celebration will be able to take in the festivities in the new location on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m.
The event, which is free to attend, will feature live musical performances, workshops and activities, art installations, and food.
The city announced that the live musical performance lineup includes DJ Dave Stiles, Sleepy Jean, Billy Rogers and Terra Lightfoot.
Other entertainers and workshop runners include Bronagh Morgan, Eve Atoms & Cat, Thagard, Mini Putt What? by Brainkite, Omega Crew 2.0, Paper Bananas, the Little Strummer Boys and others.
As far as art goes, the city says attendees can check out installations and artisanal work from a number of creators, including Angie Turner, Brianne Steinburg & Jacob Akkerman, Emily Andrews & Dillon Douglas, Kat Leibfried, Priyesha Bhatt, Sarah Carter and others.
Food trucks will also be on hand, including 905 HotDog Pound, Andrzejewski Perogi Shop, Black Bear Bakery, Fireside (known for its Greek fare) and Shirazees (patties and samosas). Attendees can also purchase craft beer and wine from local breweries and wineries.
After years of planning, the Exchange broke ground in the Main and Ferry neighbourhood in 2021 with the vision to be the epicentre of Niagara Falls’ arts and culture scene. The building is a 10,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor multipurpose event space created to foster and incubate the city’s food, music, art, and culture communities.
The event space is home to artist and woodworking studios, a gallery and a cafe.
