A bakery that had expanded to two locations has just announced they’re back down to one.

Belle’s Bakery is known for their sourdough bread, and originated in the Annex in 2019. They also make all kinds of pastries and desserts, and they make sandwiches and prepared meals as well. The bakery draws on Italian and Portuguese influences.

The neighbourhood where they expanded just lost their location of Belle’s.

“To Our Dear Customers, Friends, and Family, With a heavy heart, we announce the closure of our second location at Eglinton. This decision did not come easily. Opening this new location was a dream come true for our family, and we are incredibly grateful to the community and all of you who supported us along the way,” reads a social media post signed by the Belle’s Bakery family.

“Your smiles, visits, and encouragement meant the world to us. We’ve decided to focus on the bakery that started it all, our beloved Dupont and Spadina unit, which has been in service since 2019. We’re excited to keep serving you at Dupont, where we’ll continue to pour our passion into every bread and treat we bake. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your understanding and unwavering support.”

People have commented on the post saying they’ll miss the location, with one person saying they’d just discovered the spot recently.

The Eglinton location closed on Sunday, Sept. 22.
