Famous for breakfast, chain restaurant closes Burlington location

It opened just two years ago, but appears that a major chain restaurant has closed its Burlington doors.

Denny’s, located at 1200 Brant St. in the Burlington Power Centre located just north of the QEW, shut down recently and despite reports that the closure is temporary, company officials indicate it is gone for good.

“That location is closed and it won’t be opening again,” a spokesperson for Denny’s told inhalton.com.

A sign on the door of the restaurant indicated that it was “in arrears” meaning that rent money was owed to the landlord.

Famous for its Grand Slam breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, juice, and coffee, Denny’s has 1,700 locations worldwide and opened its first location in California in 1953.

The chain restaurant first appeared in Canada in 1970 and currently has 70 locations across the country.

Many of the locations have no locks on the doors as they are open 24 hours a day. While breakfast is the specialty, Denny’s also has an extensive lunch and dinner menu.

As for the Brant St. location, it opened with much fanfare in October of 2021 but has since fallen on hard times. Social media users indicated the location has not been friendly to food places in the past with several restaurants failing at the location.

With the Burlington location closed, the closest ones are located at 3451 South Service Rd. in Oakville (near Burloak Dr.) and 560 Centennial Pkwy. N. in Hamilton (near the QEW).
