The Toronto Garlic Festival returns this weekend.

The one-day event celebrates the bulbous flowering plant with special food and farm stalls.

Festival-goers can try dishes made with fresh Ontario garlic and rarities such as garlic-infused popsicles and black garlic and chocolate macarons.

Restaurants and Ontario farmers will have booths along with craft and garlic supply vendors.

A line-up of speakers includes talks from garlic growers, chefs and artists.

Those who love eating garlic may want to enter The Garlic Breath Contest. Indulge in garlicky foods before entering the contest, and see how you measure up—the stronger your garlic breath, the higher your chances of winning prizes, the website states.

Cooks may want to try the Garlic Bulb Cracking Contest. Participants of all ages can test their speed and precision in cracking open a garlic bulb into individual cloves.

The festival will close a portion of Spadina Road between Davenport Road and Dupont Street and Macpherson Avenue from Spadina Road to Madison Avenue.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday only.
