Work has begun to put up Hamilton’s Christmas trees at three locations around the city.

Parks crews will install Christmas trees starting today (Nov. 13) in front of Memorial Square in the Hamilton community of Dundas. Hamilton City Hall is next on Tuesday, Nov. 14, then Gore Park on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

The City of Hamilton asks residents every year to donate “the perfect tree” that will be showcased at Gore Park and city hall in downtown Hamilton, and Memorial Square in Dundas.

Back in October, it had asked residents to donate a spruce tree if they planned to cut it down.

The City said it received over 20 tree submissions this year.

It’s continuing its festive decorating using 16 planters containing live trees, which will be added along King Street, between James Street and Wellington Street. In a bid to increase the number of trees in Hamilton’s parks, these trees will be planted in various parks next spring.

Later in November and early December, the City will host official tree-lighting ceremonies. It didn’t specify the dates.
