A date has been set for Toronto’s 2024 Michelin Guide ceremony.

The Michelin Guide has only been a presence in Toronto since 2022, and it’s still highly anticipated which restaurants will be recognized.

During the ceremony next month, Toronto chefs will find out whether they have received a prestigious Michelin Star or other distinction. Attendance is by invitation only.

The Guide first entered North America in 2005 with New York City. Vancouver was recognized by the Michelin Guide in the same year as Toronto, and there are also guides for Chicago, California, Florida, Washington D.C., Colorado, Atlanta and Mexico.

Michelin Guides curate a selection of world-class restaurants, first published in France at the turn of the 20th century. Restaurants can receive one, two or three Stars for excellent cuisine, the Bib Gourmand for good quality cooking for good value, or a Michelin Green Star for sustainable gastronomy.

Toronto restaurants that have previously been recommended by the Michelin Guide include Don Alfonso 1890, Alo, Pai, Campechano, 20 Victoria, Canoe and Alder.

“Mark your calendars for the 2024 Toronto MICHELIN Guide Ceremony, where we will celebrate and toast to the excellent chefs and restaurant teams who continue to raise the bar,” said Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the MICHELIN Guides.

“Since the initial selection in 2022, the famously anonymous Guide inspectors have seen and felt the passion and growth in the local gastronomy scene of Toronto.”

The Michelin Guide’s 2024 Toronto restaurant selection will be revealed during a ceremony at venue History on Sept. 18.
