Here’s when the St. Lawrence Market North will open in Toronto

After years of development, the St. Lawrence Market North will finally open early next year.
A City of Toronto spokesperson recently told YourCityWITHIN that over the next few weeks, the north market building, located across the street from the historic St. Lawrence Market, will begin opening to tenants.
The tenants slated to move in throughout the fall and winter will provide city-run services. While the building will eventually be the permanent home of the popular weekend farmers’ market currently running out of the white tent at 125 The Esplanade, it will also house the city’s provincial courts on the upper three floors.
A city representative said residents and visitors will finally be able to check out programming and events at the north market in the spring of 2025.
The news comes a few months after the city announced in June that the highly anticipated development was 98 per cent complete. As of this past summer, work was being done on the mechanical and electrical systems, interior glazing, painting and finishes, millwork in the offices and courtrooms and the below-grade parking garage.
In a June update, the city said the next steps in the construction included building systems verifications, final inspections, and cleaning in preparation for tenants to move in.
Construction on the building, located at 92 Front St., has been ongoing since 2019.
Adamson & Associates LTD., the architecture firm tasked with designing the building, says the building will feature a five-storey atrium in the centre that will frame the market to the south and the historic St. Lawrence Hall to the north. The design is intended to create “an open indoor market that resembles a fresh, outdoor setting.”
Once complete, the project will also offer underground parking for 250 vehicles, a green roof and a geothermal system.
A city spokesperson says more information about the farmers’ market and grand opening will be released in the near future.
“North market programming and events are expected to begin in the spring of 2025, and further details on a grand opening and farmers market-related program will be available in the coming months.”
