ice cream, shop, new, legendary, treat, dessert.

I scream, you scream, because a legendary ice cream shop has officially opened its first-ever location in Toronto!

Kawartha Dairy, the iconic Ontario brand with 87 years of history, has finally made its much-anticipated debut in Toronto, opening its first location at 888 Danforth Ave. in Greektown.

This family-operated business has been serving up dairy products in Ontario since 1937, when founders Jack and Ila Crowe purchased a dairy in Bobcaygeon and began delivering milk from local farms to customers in the Kawarthas.

By the 1950s, Kawartha Dairy began offering ice cream, starting in Minden and gradually expanding to other locations. For years, their products were only available through grocery stores and select partner shops in the city, with the brand earning a reputation for its freshness and rich flavours.

According to Kawartha Dairy, the grand opening was on August 21.

Now, patrons can enjoy classic favourites like Moose Tracks (vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups and a swirl of chocolate fudge), Strawberry and Mint Chocolate Chip. Seasonal flavours like Pumpkin Pie and Spiced Apple Ripple are also coming soon.

Customers can even pick up Kawartha Dairy’s fresh milk and cream.

The Toronto location is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
