Slowly but surely many of the summertime tourist attractions in Niagara Falls are hanging it up for the season.

However, people still have one last chance this weekend to check out the fall foliage in one of the most spectacular and thrill-seeking ways – Whirlpool Jet Boats.

All of the boats will be hitting the dry-docks for the winter as of Monday so Oct. 29 is their last day of whizzing through the rapids in the Niagara Gorge/River created by the water coming over the falls.

“Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours takes passengers on trips through the turbulent white waters of the Niagara River until the end of October, giving passengers one-of-a-kind views of the Niagara Gorge,” says the company.

“Both sides of the river — the United States on the east and Canada on the west — are flanked with forests that light up in late September and October with vibrant red, orange and yellow foliage.”

There are two launch sites on this side of the border – one in Niagara Falls, the other in Niagara-on-the-Lake. There’s a shuttle bus from Floral Clock on Niagara Parkway to Queenston Dock. (There is another launch site in Lewiston, New York.)

Jet Boat Tours has been giving passengers a taste of adventure on the white water of the Niagara River since 1992.

“Passengers experience a thrilling and educational one-hour guided tour, where they can take in the awe-inspiring scenery of the Niagara Gorge, feel the rush of the Class 5 Devil’s Hole rapids, and marvel at the power of the Niagara Whirlpool.”

It’s $74.95 for adults, $44.95 for children six to 12 and you can get your tickets here.

Here’s a taste of the fun in store.
