Production has begun in Milton on Good Grades, a psychological thriller from acclaimed director M. Night Shyamalan.

Filming has also taken place in Mississauga and Hamilton over the past few weeks.

Shyamalan is best known for making original films with contemporary supernatural plots and twist endings – 1999’s The Sixth Sense, which earned him a pair of Oscar nominations for Best Director and Best original Screenplay – is a perfect example.

Other Shyamalin productions include Last Airbender, Unbreakable, Signs and this year’s Knock at the Cabin.

Good Grades, starring Josh Hartnett and Shyamalan’s daughter, R&B singer-songwriter Saleka, is deascribed as a “psychological thriller set at a concert.”

Saleka Shyamalan will play a pop star, with Hartnett playing a father taking his child to the concert.

This will be Saleka Shyamalan’s first film as an actor. It is her dad’s 16th feature film, with his movies raking in more than $3.3 billion globally. Good Grades had a working title of Trap until this summer.

Main St. E and other downtown Milton locations will be closed Monday and Tuesday for night filming. Main St. E will be closed to traffic between Charles Street and James Street on both nights from 4 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Halton Police will be on-site to help facilitate the road closure and to ease any public concerns as the filming will include a mock SWAT team with deactivated weapons.

Prep work for the film took place last week. Filming will wrap up Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
