You know the old saying: When one door closes, another one opens.
Fortunately for east-end coffee aficionados who were sad to see Boxcar Social close its Riverside location a few months ago, a new cafe has set up shop in the Boulton Ave. location.
Amber Kitchen and Coffee, which serves coffee, breakfast, and goods baked in-house by local baker Abreham Zera, officially opened a few days ago.

As far as beverages go, the cafe offers the usual caffeinated suspects, including drip coffee, espresso, Americanos, lattes, capuccinos, flat whites and cortados. Amber also offers tea and, according to a recent Instagram post, it’s “all-time favourite matcha latte.”
As for food, the cafe’s official Instagram account highlights the fresh-baked bread (including focaccia and potato loaves), Amber eggs made with tomato sauce, potato bruschetta, basil, garlic, and salsa, a potato-cauliflower frittata, a corn polenta and mushroom dish, avocado toast and more.
The resto also offers sandwiches, bowls, dips and salads.
The restaurant, which is open until 5 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on weekends, is now taking reservations.
