An exhibition that explores the connections between existing art in the Helson Gallery collections and the creative influences that shaped the work of historic and contemporary artists opens Thursday in Halton Hills.
From Aug. 31 to Nov. 26, the Helson Gallery will display a selection of art from recent donations to the Town of Halton Hills and the Halton Hills Public Library’s permanent art collections.
In addition, an exhibition of work by the Halton Hills Plein Air Artists opens in the Upper Sisnett lobby of the Cultural Centre on Aug. 28.
Visitors can view paintings of local scenery created by Monica Burnside, Carol Hughes, Sheila Mitchell, Beatrice Roche, Rose Scully, and Susan Ying.
The group meets every Thursday from spring through fall in local parks to paint Halton Hills. This exhibition will be on view until Oct. 1 and many of the paintings will be offered for sale.
“It’s wonderful to see the quality of art being donated to the Town and Library art collections,” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “The Town is grateful for the generosity and ongoing support of our donors.”
The Helson Gallery is located at 9 Church St., Halton Hills, and is open Wednesday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
